Hi, I'm Imani! I'm a journalist, fact-checker, and aspiring photographer. 

My first and greatest love is writing. I have a particular passion for stories at the intersection of race, education, politics, and social justice. In 2022, I earned a B.S. in Journalism and Asian American Studies from Northwestern University. I am currently pursuing a certificate of achievement in photography at Santa Monica College. 

As a freelance fact-checker and writer, I strive to ensure every piece of copy that crosses my desk is both accurate and impactful. I have previously worked at The American Prospect, In These Times, and the Los Angeles Sentinel.

A few miscellaneous facts: I'm originally from Los Angeles, California. I'm half Black, half Chamorro. I can play the flute. My favorite meal is chicken katsu curry. My favorite color is purple.
